Fold Formed Silver Leaf Pendant or Earrings Workshop with Louise Mary at Metamorphic Charm

Spend 3 hours in the studio creating wonderful silver leaf forms from flat sheet metal using hammers.

On this half day course you will receive step-by-step tuition in a friendly, relaxed environment. Louise will introduce to you this creative technique, which you can then incorporate into your silver leaf pendant or pair of silver leaf earrings.  

Fold forming describes the process of folding sheet metal then somehow compressing the fold, usually with a hammer, this folded piece is then sometimes a further worked into by forging, before opening out to reveal the created form. This technique has applications both for jewellery and metalsmithing, including creating silverware or metal sculptures.

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

The workshop price includes up to 10g of silver to use to make your silver pendant. Additional silver, if you require it, is available to purchase from your tutor on the day at £1.50 per gram.

YOUR TUTOR: LOUISE MARY

Louise has been working as a jeweller and silversmith since 2005, and began teaching early on as a means to support her practice, initially teaching an evening class at Hereford College of Art. Louise is also the author of two books ('Making Silver Jewellery' and 'Fold Forming for Jewellers and Metalsmiths’) and aims to inspire her students to fall in love with this special craft just as she did when she first started silversmithing.  

WHO CAN ATTEND:

All levels of ability including complete beginners. Anyone is welcome to take part so long as they are aged over 18 (or over 14 if accompanied by an adult).

Gift cards cannot be used as payment for this workshop, which is run by a guest tutor.
